You're not gonna believe this: as part of a recent investigation into financial irregularities at a local Junior College, the Mobile Press Register has reported that a culinary instructor at the college was also listed as a student in at least seven classes where he is also recorded as the teacher. He earned six grades of A, but the dummy gave himself only a B for a "Menu Design" course! In all these classes, there was only one instance of a student earning a grade higher than the instructor/student's grade.

DH and I have been ROFL all day...students and instructors in this culinary arts program have made field trips to our winery in the past, so we know the characters involved. But we never imagined they could be so brazen.

The ongoing investigation has discovered mismanagement of federal financial aid money. Relatives of those indicted received financial aid, although they never set foot on campus. One elderly disabled individual (who I think has only one leg) received an athletic scholarship!

To quote Garrison Keillor, "Who needs satire? Just read the newspaper?"

Here's a link to the story. Let me know if you can't open it, and I'l send you my user name and password.

Enjoy!

No, his high-jinks didn't involve financial aid...he was listed as being a student...

enrolled in the classes he was teaching, in pursuit of an associate's degree in commercial food service, according to the newspaper's "documents". He supposedly had an associate degree from Southern Institute in Birmingham, AL, but the college could not confirm the degree, saying their records didn't go that far back.

Well, yes, there is a money connection...here we have an instructor, who seems to lack the credentials to teach, but who is earning $61,702/year if he includes teaching during the summer.

I wonder who's brother-in-law he is?
