My sister lives near DC and her, hubby & kids all LOVE the grocery store's oatmeal cookie. I'd like to send her a few test versions, but am working in the blind here, never having tasted one.

She said they are large (I'm thinking 3") and chewy and delicious.

Okay, I'm an engineer. I need more to go on.

Have any of you had these cookies and know of a recipe that comes close?

(Wow...this is a pretty vague request, but I'm putting it out there. You've never failed me yet.)

Hi Marilyn - after just coming from Wegmans this afternoon, I'm kicking myself...

for not buying an oatmeal cookie! Will do that next time I'm there - I end up in Wegmans a lot these days! I'm assuming they are the ones at the bakery counter, not in a package. Never bought them before, but if you say they are good, I'll try 'em and see what I can do. My former co-worker is a manager there, so I'll see if I can get any info for you.

I'm surprised they have Wegmans stores in D.C. I thought it was just a western-central New York state thing. Used to be, must be they are branching out. My cousin says she would love one down near NYC, but there is nothing there, yet.

Are you really an engineer? Me too - what kind are you and what kind of organization do you work for? (I'm unemployed at the moment)

Hi Dawn, there are two Wegmans NEAR DC. They are both in

northern VA. One is out by Dulles Airport about 45 minutes due west of the city (assuming no traffic!!!) and the other one is fairly close to my house in Fairfax, about 25 minutes west of the city (again assuming no traffic!!!) Both locations are extremely popular and VERY busy. I have no patience with the crowds so I don't go very often.

Yes, truly, I am an engineer...electrical by degree and systems by

the programs I've been on--FBI's IAFIS program and now the Joint Strike Fighter F-35 automated logistics information system. I work for Lockheed Martin in Orlando.

I hate to lead you astray--I've personally never tasted these oaters. Karen & Devin raved about the cookies and so I'd like to surprise them with a batch of homemade that tastes as good.

The family lives in Clifton, but work near Dulles, so I'm betting they hit the store there.

Thanks for the info. Would you like me to mail you a couple of them? Really, I will, just PM me.
