ISO: ISO of suggestions for protein with cheese fondue.

I only want to do one fondue so I'm doing MoNJ's addition of Caramelized Shallots to RuthAB's Classic Swiss Fondue. Along with crusty bread, apples, cauliflower, and radishes I'm thinking of adding baked meatballs and/or grilled hot Italian sausages.

Yes/no/other?

I used an "Aidell's sausage last week, it had apple, artichoke, and either chicken or turkey ~

Excellent..and would be great with this fondue.

Aidell's also has a sun-dried tomato sausage, andouille sausage, and others

Check Costco; they had a triple pack for Christmas and they could still be carrying them. Handy lil suckers!

Very traditional would be cold, sliced meats/salamis. YOu could probably steal from the raclette

tradition and add sour gherkins as well, pickled onions.

In our family we always had apples and tiny boiled potatoes

along with the classic French or sourdough loaf with the fondue. I love the potatoes! Especially now that you can get those little fingerling or the ones that look like fat marbles. How can you go wrong with potatoes and cheese!
