My department wants to give a gift to our manager in recognition of an award he won. He is a pizza fanatic and I thought it would be fun to send him some wonderful frozen pizzas that he can cook when he wants to. Any idea of good online sources?

Thanks,

Deb

hi Deb, I've ordered pizza from NYC and was always dissapointed. even Famous Ray's

in the village, where I used to get a slice wasn't that good smileys/frown.gif maybe a Chicago deep dish pie would be better but I don't know.

I was going to link you to homesickgourmet.com but they seemed to have changed and don't have all the regional favorites to choose from.

here's a google link with lots of choices. I hope you have better luck than I did. smileys/smile.gif

it was "mail order pizza" Deb '-)) good luck with finding a good one smileys/smile.gif

That was my experience too. Dissapointing.

Had a friend who raved about a place in Chicago she used to go, finally ordered frozen (I don't remember the name): Reheated and it was (yawn) so deep freezer section of the grocery store.

I just ordered a cheese pie from Ray's. the crust was what I was missing but they skimped on

(edit: the crust was great and what I was missing), the sauce and cheese. they shipped overnight but it wasn't frozen. I guess the cheese would have slid off the sauce and made a mess if they did it right. all I wanted was a "real" pizza and it was sooo sad smileys/frown.gif

you can't believe what they call pizza here, it's dreadful stuff. finally, a CA couple moved here and opened a pizza place with a brick oven and they know how to make a pie! they're so good that I've risked the wheat and carbs a few times just to do the "happy pizza dance" smileys/smile.gif

Maybe a gift of the toys and makings so he can do it at home would be better?

Like a BIG gift box or basket with a pizza stone, beautifully illustrated cookbook, maybe a gifat card for mail order cheese and/or sauce gifts in the basket? Try www.arthuravenue.com for authentic NY sauces and cheeses. Mike's deli is awesome. smileys/smile.gif

Yes, it's thick with toppings and the sauce goes on the top.

Click on the link and see the pizza photo in the logo? Nothing says home like a deep dish Chicago-style pizza. MMMMM...Best gift I EVER received was that pizza sent to me from Giodano's.

Come to think of it, I did have a deep dish pizza in NY once or twice, but never in Chicago. Now I'm

in the mood for pizza!
