For the relative that has everything!

I hope I haven't waited too long to start the marinating process in time for next week. I bought them once in a gourmet shop that is no longer around, and they had the faintest hint of oranges in them, and were almost addictive! The olives weren't real strong (like kalamata olives are), but they were large and purplish-gray.

Anyone know of this recipe, or should I just go surfing ;o)? Thanks.

REC: Citrus Marinated Olives

CITRUS MARINATED OLIVES

1/1/2 cups kalamata or other brine-cured black olives
1/1/2 cups cracked brine-cured green olives
1 cup olive oil
1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
1/4 cup orange juice
6 lage cloves garlic, thinly sliced
3 Tbls. chopped fresh parsley
1 Tbls. grated lemon peel
1 Tbls. grated orange peel
1/2 Tsp. dried crushed red pepper

Combine all ingredients in a large heavy duty resealable plastic bag. shake bag to blend ingredients.
Refrigerate at least 1 day and up to 3 days, turning bag occasionally. Transfer olives and some marinade to bowl. Let stand 1 hour at room temp. before serving.*

If you are giving these as a gift, I'm sure you could put them in a nice jar etc.
Found this on EPI They sure sound like they would be real good. Got very good reviews also. I think I will try these after the holidays.

A local market has orange peel, thickly sliced and the white pith removed (more)

with their olives. The orange peel itself is marinated adding an extra layer of taste and texture.

Thanks MIZ and Darice - I think the ones I had DID have a curl or two of

peel in there. They were very good. I'll let y'all know how they turn out (looks like I made the timeline in the nick of time - lol, no pun intended).
