ISO: ISO Randi: You OK over there in Newport? We had wild winds last night

In Search Of:
waaaay scary June! we were lucky, Meryl, I just PM'd you this but I'll post too...

we are OK smileys/smile.gif only one wittle bitty branch came down on our property so we were pretty lucky. there were a few times when I thought one of the big trees was going to come down through a window. we lost our internet right after my last post but we didn't lose power until 10:15pm and then, only for a couple of hours. a lot of our friends lost their power by 4pm and are still out. there are big trees down everywhere and several roads are still closed. chain saws are the hot item in town today. unfortunately, a big tree came down on one family's car and these people are going through so much right now with a son battling cancer.

even with the power blips and outages, our equipment and servers are intact..... whew! (we're an ISP) I did have a couple of customers bitch'n about there being an email problem yesterday and did we fix it... geeze, look out your window idiots, maybe the power is down!!!! they are right up there with the customers who try to hold us personally responsible for spam and why aren't we doing anything about it? yeah, I'll be on the next plane to Bosnia so I can track them down and tell them to leave you alone!!!! grrrrr

we only spent a few hours at the office today so we could come home and clean-up what needed to be taken care of. I just put the living room back together after this morning's rat race.... literally. and I'd like to personally thank two of my cats, Shante and Kai, for bringing the little guy in. he got under the sectional before I could pick him up and set him free. I had to move it out on the deck and wait for him to realize he was outside and free. poor little guy was so frightened!

the seas are still high but didn't come in as high as expected. the winds went to 81 mph and we're thankfull for that. right now the sun is shining, the waves roaring and little birds feeding in the pines and singing sweetly. I sure hope this is the last of these storms that have been pounding us week after week.

OK, but didn't realize how tired I am until I sat down at the puter. and, I just

discovered that our "guest" didn't leave this morning and is now in a more difficult place to get :-0

oh screw it, it's gotta be cocktail hour somewhere, I'm going to pour a glass of wine and watch cartoons! smileys/smile.gif

I SECOND (or third) THAT!

smoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooch.

Have a glass on me, Randi. My cat Squeeky often overestimates his prowess and drags the difficult

cases indoors, where he releases the most disgusting vermin.

If he were to do it during a windstorm I'd kill him for sure.

Hang in there!

For a little humorous perspective, here in Calif. when it rains, it's the top of the news...

and everyone forgets how to drive, you would think it was the end of the world. We used to have "rainy day sessions" during elementary school, we got to go home at lunchtime so our moms could pick us up and we wouldn't have to get wet walking home! hilarious! of course I thought it was normal cause that's how life was here.

So this week it must have rained a whole 2 inches and wouldn't you know, it caused the phone lines at my office to short out. The wiring in downtown SF is so old (they still use copper wires downtown for the phone lines) anyway they got wet and yesterday and today no phones, so I'm here on a Saturday while the phone techs are doing their thing to dry things out! LOL at least the DSL works so we have email!

Can you imagine the havoc if it snowed in SF on a regular basis? tee hee

anyone need firewood? we've got lots of trees down "-))) thanks all, things are

getting back to normal. our friends have electricity again, just as I was about to open our doors for hot showers and laundry room privilages.

we had no idea how bad the storm damage actually was until we watched the news last night. the wind gusts in Newport hit 107 mph :-0

anyway, all is well and we'll be sipping martinis in front of a firepit tonight at our nighbor's home and just snugging together smileys/smile.gif

oh, how precious, Squeeky is sharing the joy of the hunt with you.. LOL cats sure have a

way of keeping life interesting smileys/smile.gif

We have a cat that is "live victim impaired" . He on a regular basis brings home inanimate objects,

Over the years he has brought home:
too many gardening gloves to count
clothes items belonging to children
junk mail
really old ugly stuffed animals
an apron
and my very favorite; an envelope with three human molars in it, ewwwwwwwwwwwww!

The one and only time he caught something live, he brought a bird in the house. Mike and I were ducking and diving trying to catch the bird, when we both realized that said bird was really a bat. Same ewwwwwwwwwwwww.

The same cat still in the middle of the night, goes down in the basement and steals items to bring upstairs to me. I have seen the Christmas tree skirt at least 20 times this year.
Oh yeah, and all "victims" have Cookie's signature teeth marks in them.

meet him? I want to hire him! maybe Cookie can convince mine of how rewarding

hunting and capturing inanimate objects can be. then I can discontinue my reptile and rodent retrieval and relocation program... ROTF

Cookie sounds like a hoot!
