ISO: ISO recipes using ground bison, just bought some to try. Anyone here tried it?

I always buy it when I see it. Just make it into the best hamburgers you've ever had. It tastes...

like beef ought to taste. It usually has so little fat that it does not shrink at all. I used to buy the frozen burgers at Trader Joes but the last few times they have rendered a lot of fat so I now buy it at the supermarket, fresh, whenever I see it. Use it any way you usually do with ground beef. Enjoy.

I'm with aajay. I have two packages in my freezer. I buy them when they...

...go on "quick sale" and freeze. When I have a few pounds, we have a barbeque with friends.

Everyone comments on how "beefy" the burgers taste.

I wouldn't do anything to mask the natural flavor.

Where do you all FIND bison? Do you special order it? Go to butcher shop? Thanks, would love to try!

It is so good...some better than others. I'm not totally used to it yet so have been mixing it with

lean gr. beef. Flavor is great. Most markets are carrying it now...if yours does not, ask them to bring it in.....then buy it and tell all your friends to buy it.

Val, Publix carries it sometimes in their quasi-organic meat section.

They call it buffalo meat, not bison.

By the way, hope you saw my THANK YOU for the Thai Basil chicken. Yummy!!

Hey, thanks Marilyn! I did see your post & acknowledged it...will look at Publix but

truly, I find that some of the stores carry this-and-such (like Fage yogurt) and some don't carry...but I will check it out.

Bought it here at Safeway, Val, and saw it today at another major supermarket as well. Never knew

about it but now it's on my radar.)

Is buffalo the same?

We bought some buffalo steaks from our farmer's market a couple of years ago. We found them pretty dry, although my husband thinks he over-cooked them, so you might want to watch your cooking time. I imagine the meat is leaner than regular hamburger.
