I tried to make a mojito last night. It was just alright, I used pineapple mint but didn't use enough and didn't muddle it enough either. Also - I only had ice cubes and it definately needs crushed iced.

Can anyone recommend an inexpensive ice crusher/shaver?

TIA

I have an old attachment for the Oster blender. Cheap. Works fine. Good drinks in this house.

But H actually prefers the 'superior quality' of the ice from the hand cranked model, even over what comes out of the frig. There's no end to the energy he'll expend to get me drinking.

And, we always double the amount of mint suggested for a mojito. I love mint.

I had an old hand crank ice cream maker many moons ago that came with a tightly woven canvas bag

with a long drawstring handle/closure. We put the cubes in the bag, closed the top and then whacked it on the cement floor of the garage or walkway. It worked beautifully and was a great stress reliever.
