DH and I are having a much needed, weekend getaway first weekend in Nov. Any recommendations of restaurants (dives to fancy - all welcomed) and things to do?

Thanks so much!

Deb

Our three favorites: Anson's, Magnolia's, & Hominy Grits

Anson's is where I first met "shrimp with tasso gravy and grits". Not one of those nouns really impress me on their own, but Dear Lord, that combination is a pure wonder.

Magnolia's also has the same dish, but we hung out at the bar munching on home made potato chips with Magtag cheese melted on the top and icy Mint Julips. So no meal experience, but many happy tastebudy memories.

Hominy Grits for breakfast (or lunch or dinner). Little converted house on a back street.

SNOB (Slightly North of Broad) ,Bacci's,as well as Marilyn's suggestions

They are all GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would add ....

Lunch or dinner Fleet Landing
Breakfast or lunch Marina Variety Store (on the dive side, but great view.
For a fun dinner, Fuel across from Hominy Grill (which is always busy except for dinner - the Hominy Grill that is).
These are all downtown, but there are so many places around the peninsula West of the Ashley, James and Johns Island and Mt Pleasant!
The Farmers' Market Saturday morning is a must. A harbor tour/trip to Ft Sumter will give you a great view of the city. Just walking around South of Broad, the Battery, lower Meeting St.
Or take a carriage tour.
Please let me know if I can be of any assistance.

Thank you so much for the activities suggestion - will do!

We are renting a car so traveling to see things isn't a problem. We've been there for one day before and took the carriage ride.

So please - any activity/sightseeing suggestions are most welcome. We are staying at the Charleston Place Hotel?

In addition to these great refs, I still love Hyman's for lunch!

and don't miss Ft. Sumter! It would be a fun morning trip!

More activities

Cypress Gardens is one of my favorite, make sure you take a guided boat tour.

Middleton Gardens may be gearing up for Thanksgiving

Folly Beach is listed as the end of the world, a funky beach town. You can have lunch at Locklears on the pier over the beach looking at the Atlantic and afterwards check out who is catching what on the pier.

Sullivan's Island boasts of Ft Moultrie, the revolutionary and civil war fort. Edgar Allen Poe wrote the Gold Bug there. Chief Oceola was buried there until he was sent back to the Seminoles. There are also some homes built into bunkers.

If y'all are naval buffs, you could stop by Patriots Point Naval Museum on your way to Sullivan's.

This is few for starters.
