Hey Sandi,

I've been meaning to post this for awhile. I made another batch a few weeks ago, and the dough was completely different than the first few times. It was much moister, not dry and crumbly at all. Why? Because it was raining that day. Just as I had originally thought - that humidity was the root of your problem when your dough didn't come together. In spite of the rain, however, my cookies turned out well, and I certainly didn't experience the problems you did, probably because the humidity here isn't as high as where you are.

Anyway, I just thought you'd like to know that it wasn't because of the cookie gremlin, but rather the humidity gremlin.

You're tempting me, but after two batches of botched cookie dough, I'm a little gunshy smileys/smile.gif

I trust you and your recipes totally smileys/smile.gif but I'm just wondering if I should try it again.

Maybe if I'm feeling brave tomorrow.....

No, no, no - I'm not suggesting to try them again - there are sooo many good cookie recipes...

out there, it's probably not worth the hassle and risk. I just wanted to let you know that the humidity plays a major role in these particular cookies, and probably not as much so in other cookies. I never would have been able to confirm my suspicions if I hadn't made the last batch on a rainy day.

Meanwhile, if I come across another good recipe for crunchy chocolate chip cookies, I'll definitely let you know!
