ISO: ISO Sandra, how did the lunch go? and the tiramisu?

In Search Of:
It was great!

With the tiramisu I conglomerated a few of the recipes and sort of made up my own, it came out very good, considering I'm not a huge fan, I did like my own! I ended up using 16 eggs, 2 bottle of marsala and 3 liters of cream, with loads of chocolate and espresso!

Everything else went very well - here's a picture of the table, minus the big bowl of red pesto pasta salad, which was put out after I took the pic! Unfortunately I don't have a picture of the tiramisu(s) I made 3 in the end!

it all looks so beautiful! you really put a lot of effort into those dishes and it

shows. as for the tiramisu, I've found I like my homemade much better than any I've had out and so do my friends. I think most places use too much sugar and not the right ingredients.

I catered my own wedding and made a tiramisu wedding cake. I had to make the sponge to get a round cake but it was just perfectly wonderful!

congrats on a beautiful spread girlfriend!

Sandra, the table looks beautiful!! What a special party! Did the shot glasses work out well? (m)

I purchased a few last year on sale....(Very cheap...I think they were $2.00 for a set of 6; normally $15.00....Something silly like that.
Anyway, I have not used them. I have been thinking of using them for soup.

Did it work out OK? My family eats so much soup, that I am afraid of the reaction to the shot glass.... ie they would want more!!

What else have you used your shot glasses for? I was thinking of serving bloody mary's in them for an upcoming brunch....

Your party sounds wonderful! I am sure your friends were so appreciative of the thought, time, effort and energy that went into the special day! Thanks for sharing the photos!

Regards,
Barb

Such a beautiful buffet Sandra! I went to the menu section to get some

of the recipes but they aren't posted. I did a search for 4 of them but nothing comes up. Do you have them posted here and I'm just not getting to them somehow? It's such a perfectly balanced menu I'd love them all. Please?

Sandra, beautiful spread! Please add the recipes to your menu when you get the chance.

thanks Randi...

It really wasn't that much effort, compared to other menus I have "devised" - It was al served room temp, so it was just a question of plating up and sitting down with everyone else!

The shot glasses worked well...

I have used them before for cocktail parties and they were much better sutied to tha method, as they can get refilled and passed again - I have done gazpacho, consomme, chilled cuke and chilled lettuce soups - this one was relly nice and refreshing also, and because it was part of the buffet it worked well - I had set up a small table on the side, and people were "shooting" the soup as they waited in line for food and leavng the little glasses there...

Bloody Marys would be greta in the shot glasses, especially if they're really strong and horseradishy - if you have a glass eye-dropper (new, obviously) you can drop one drop of very peppery extra virgin olive oil on top so it makes a little bubble-type...

Looks gorgeous! Everyone must have had a lovely time. smileys/smile.gif

Great tip re: eye glass dropper. I will try them for the bloody mary's. I found a very, hot,

horeseradishy recipe that has peaked my interest. Thanks for the tips/encouragement. I will give it a "shot!" : )

Barb

Oh yum! These all sound fantastic. Do I understand right that you serve the potatoes

cold or at room temp? Thanks for posting them.

Everything was served at room temperature...

We're in Spring here, so we opted for cold food, as it can get pretty warm - as it was on the day it was 80 and super sunny!

I don't like the taste of it warm, there is a lot of lemon juice in it...

Something about the taste of warm lemon juice just doesn't do it for me - plus, a lot of the flavour develops as it cools -

If you make it, try before cooling it, I think you'll see what I mean, but you make like it!
