Hi all,

So, thinking ahead a little here. My husband is with a group that does Santa train rides. The crew works really hard the weekend of the train rides, and we always try to have lots of food on hand to keep them fed. We always seem to end up with a lot of cookies, so I'd like to make something savory for them. Needs to be something that can sit out for a while that they can grab quickly while moving around the train, etc.

Any thoughts? Thanks much...

Deb in Mi has these onion tarts posted in T&T. really good and can be eaten at room temp

instead of butter, I sometimes sauté some bacon and cook the onions in that, adding the bacon to the filling. that puts it over the top! lots of other good choices over in T&T apps

This is fairly common, but I *loved* it. Shot glasses filled with hot tomato soup with

a grilled cheese *toast soldier* laying across the top of the glass.

(It's still hot down here, so even thinking about hot tomato soup is making me itchy.)

Make little ham rolls. Something like King's Hawaiian rolls spread with a mix of

mustard, brown sugar and cloves. Cut the entire roll horizontally and spread. Put deli slices of ham on and swiss cheese if you want. Put the top on and slice into individual rolls. They are good heated.
Pimento cheese and baguette slices.

How about a bowl of nice purple grapes. Men seem to like grapes and these would be easy to grab

cut sections of palm size portions, so they can just grab a handful, pluck and pop into their mouth. Refreshing, and filling.

Very fun that your dh does this! I am sure there are smiles on lots of childrens faces! What about mini

meatballs w mini forks(instead of a toothpick)? Or the taquitos that they sell at Costco? You can cut them up into thirds.
