offered to make stuff - sweet and savory. We are

expecting good weather so the food will be placed outside but still should be finger food that doesnt get anything dirty!! TIA

I posted a recipe for a delicious saffron chocolate biscotti a couple of weeks ago.

Just do a search for them - they were very good!

I really like these REC: Spicy Cheese Shortbread

Spicy Cheese Shortbread
Makes about 36

2 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon dry mustard
1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted

Preheat oven to 375 F. Toss together cheese, flour, mustard and cayenne. Mix in butter. Knead with your hands to form a dough. If the dough feels very dry, add a tablespoon of water. On a floured surface, roll out half the dough to a thickness between 1/8- and 1/4-inch. Cut out with star, heart or leaf-shaped cookie cutters. Place on ungreased cookie sheets and bake 10 to 12 minutes until lightly browned on the bottom. Remove to a rack to cool.

these pinwheels are not too messy and can be served at room temp too.

Palmiers made with puff pastry and filled with either pesto or sundried tomato or a combo would be good and not too messy. Ina Garten made some on her show last weekend. some could be made with cinnamon and sugar and nuts for a sweet treat. mini tarts like the lemon or pecan tassies up in T&T are always a nice sweet treat that is not too messy.

These are addictive! Serve with soup or make them smaller and serve with a glass of wine.

1 cup unsalted butter
1/2 cup granulated sugar
4 eggs

3 cups all purpose flour
1 cup cornmeal
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cayenne
1 tsp black pepper
1 Tbsp. fresh rosemary leaves, chopped
4 cups grated Italian cheese (fontina, mozzarella, asiago, provolone)
1/2 cup sunflower seed
1/2 cup pumpkin seeds

Cream together the butter and sugar in a large bowl.

Add the eggs and mix well.

In a separate bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, baking powder, cayenne, pepper, rosemary, cheese, and both seeds. Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing just enough to combine.

On a parchment-lined baking sheet, shape into two 3”-by-16" rectangles, about 1" thick, leaving about 4” between rectangles.

Bake in a preheated 275 F. oven for 45 minutes until firm and golden.

Remove from oven. Turn oven up to 300 deg. Allow to cool at least 15 minutes, and then cut diagonally at 1" intervals using a serrated knife. Carefully transfer them using the flat side of the knife, back to the parchment-lined cookie sheet.

Bake for an additional 15 minutes.

I tried soe savory ones that I was not thrilled with. I will have to try these instead next time.

(Reminding myself to Toss that "other" recipe!)

Congrats to your DIL! What is the timing of the opening event? I went to something similiar

they served many items "on a stick". I recall small tomatoes, small mozzerella and basil on a stick, fruit slices on a stick, chicken tenders on a stick and grilled shrimp on a stick....While it sounds "messy" it really wasn't they did not serve sauces. They had them in strategic places in the store so it encouraged everyone to roam through the store, look at the merchandise and go to the next table.

Congrats again! What kind of boutique?

It's a clothing boutique and not so large. Event is Fri. morning so the

sweets and savories should be enough.
If not there is a cafe across the street!!!
We are excited for her. She has been looking for what to do with 2 little kids she didnt want to go back to high tech.
