Can't find the thread or remember who bought this (senior moments abound here), and I was wondering what they thought about it now that they've had time to try it out in various recipes...

So far no one has actually done a review of the product. Would anyone who has tried it please let us

know your thoughts. Many thanks in advance.

I purchased 4 jars of the PB2 and like it very much. The

only draw back is that is cannot be mixed in larger batches and saved in a jar. It hardens if it stands too long. I mix what the recipe calls for and use it in the recipe I am making right away. Ive made cookies, frostings, and used it in satays. You can buy this from Bell Plantation. There is a company that makes a peanut flour that you add your own salt etc., but from what I have read about it, it tends to get rancid and mildew if not used in a short time. The PB2 does not do this. I do keep the opened, unmixed jar, in the refrigerator, as suggested on the label.

I took it to a large group meeting and quite a few people tried it out...

The people who truly LOVE peanut butter felt it was lacking something.

The folks that just wanted a rush of peanut butter on a cracker or bread were perfectly happy with it.

Some folks didn't like seeing it after an hour or so because it dries out if you don't cover it.

The chemist in the group was a tad freaked out because one of her projects at the university was to work with a company to remove the fat from peanuts! To do this she ground them up, added fomaldehyde, which binded with the fat molecules, then burned that off, leaving behind the solid protein peanut.

She wouldn't touch it and the rest of us all just stared at the jar after that.

I have no idea what process this company uses to remove so much of the fat. But chezz, I'd be happy to pop some in the mail for you to test if you like. I forget the ratio, but you simply mix water with the powdered peanuts.

I tried it in two recipes, but think I made too many other adjustments (fat-wise, flour-wise). Neither were rousing successes.

However, it was really good in an almond milk, yogurt, banana smoothie.

Offer goes to anyone who wants a sample. Just PM me. I'll be on medical leave starting this Thursday, so I could mail it out next week.

By the way, I have 4 one-pound bags of peanut flour if anyone would like some to

sample. I haven't quite figured out what to do with it yet.

Sure! I'd love to play with it. I'll PM you my addy...and let me know where to send the check. smileys/smile.gif
