I just finished reading "Fortune Cookie Chronicles" by Jennifer 8 Lee. It's been out for a couple years but I finally got around to reading it. YOWZA! What a gem! What an incredible, well-researched and yet readable book.

So, I'm asking, what are your favorite food related books?

Here's a short list of mine:

Farm City: The Education of an Urban Farmer

The History of Spice

Banana: The Fate of the Fruit That Changed the World

The Taste of Conquest: The Rise and Fall of the Three Great Cities of Spice

History of the World in 6 Glasses

The Last Chinese Chef

I've been cooking with a group that reads food related novels for about a year...this is my favorite thus far!
I'm currently reading (I read several different kinds of books at any one time depending on my mood...) the companion book Food, Inc. and Omnivore's Dilemma.
The Sharper Your Knife the Less You Cry was another good book, imho.

Enjoy!

Michael Pollan's Food Rules. Was going to post this in a new thread, but it seems to fit here?

Have enjoyed his other big books which might intimidate some. This is small and to the point, I think it would be a great addition to a gift basket or? for a person who is interested in eating better but not sure how to start? 152 reviews, 88 are five star!

Available on amazon now for $5, was $11 at the bookstore here.

I think the Kid's version of Omnivore's Dilemma looks very interesting too, also gets good reviews.
Enjoy,
Nan

Great recommendations. I enjoyed "The Sharper Your Knife the Less You Cry " too.

It's kind of like sophisticated chick lit, eh? I listened to the audio version. Since then I've become friends with the author (she lives here in Seattle) and talked about what a bizarre experience it was hearing someone else's voice read her words...LOL!

Same author has 2 new books on the horizon.
