This was a BUSY but VERY bad food weekend.
Friday:
Jinkies, our 9 1/2 month old dane, was graduating her S*T*A*R class and I was helping the teacher (also a very good friend) make a dog-approved Scooby Doo cake for the party. My husband's job was to keep our oldest dane, who is not in the best shape, calm. (She gets worked up easily and is a known food thief.) We went outside for a break with the middle dog (puppy was in her crate) and came back in to discover Scooby's paws and a good bit of the peanut butter/cream cheese frosting missing. "She never moved" was dh's response.
Saturday:
In the morning I made 5# of potato salad for a bbq after the graduation. This potato salad was on the counter, cooling, while we went for groceries. Came home to nothing but a shmear of potato salad on the floor where the now empty container had hit, an empty container of cookies and an empty container of dog treats. Oh, and two VERY guilty and VERY full great danes. (We'll be shopping for a new kitchen gate this weekend.)
Sunday
In the morning, with hubby's assistance, I made EMTD's Thai Pasta Salad. In exchange for special tutoring for our very spoiled puppy (she was ill and injured for a long time and, as a result needs extra attention) my friend the trainer and her husband have been spending Sunday afternoons with us and I fix dinner. AFTER making the pasta salad I checked my FB and found a post on there that her DH told her he and my DH had decided we were going to try out the new Chinese place in town. No one told me this, least of all dh who, as I said, HELPED me make the pasta salad. Let's just say that I was a bit on the PEEVED side.
Ended up she and I stayed home with the dogs while the menfolk went out for dinner. I think this was a very good compromise, saving me from jail for using the cast iron skillet on dh's head.
Today, however, I enjoyed the salad for lunch!
