It's time to get started on the archives project. Any volunteers?

I guess we should wait until we see how many people volunteer, and then divvy up the archives. How does that sound? Thanks GR for the reminder. It has been hectic around here and I just hadn't gotten around to doing this yet.

Will be away next week, but am ready as soon as I return. Will need instructions.

This is what I have been doing, and any suggestions will be very appreciated...

I am setting up a site over on MSN Groups. Those of us that will be editing the recipes will have manager status. After we have a final head count on volunteers (I hope we get a few more)we will divide up the archives. I am not sure what the criteria should be for which recipes get into the New Archives. Perhaps the same as T&T here, meaning that or there should be no editing and just transfer all the recipes. How do we classify them, by date, archive number or category (poultry, beef, etc.). How about some feedback on these questions and any others we should be asking. Thanks!

I'm still trying to get to the vegetable compendium. Strange how the gov't dictates my activities

near tax time. They're so serious about it all.

Working with old posts from here, you mean? Sorry if I sound dumb, I pop in and

out of here irregularly lately, so I don't know about any recent discussions you may have had on this already.

Doesn't it get done automatically from the software that Mimi and her programmers did already?

Hi Dawn, some ideas inside for organizing the posts

Some random thoughts, in no particular order:

1 - I think the simplest way to organize is by type similar to what we have here: poultry, beef, salads, etc. If we are not sure which category something belongs in, we can C & P into all appropriate categories as we go.

2 - We need to include the poster, post number and date of the original for reference;

3 - It is impractical to copy each recipe posted, that would truly be a Herculean task no matter how many were working on it:

- To narrow down which ones we C & P, one criteria we could use is that the original person posting it has tried and liked the recipe.

- Another way to focus on getting the "good stuff" is for each of us to look through the section of posts we are assigned and see if there are any global hall of famers in our sections - Richard's Potatoes, nlb's Chicken Noodle Casserole, etc. and move those first.

This is just off the top of my head...I may think of more later. Also, when we start doing it, we may find we need to do things differently as we get further in to the project.
