I've been asked to do a baby shower cake. Am not worried about cake or frosting but...

Wondered if anyone had experience in this and had some cute decorating ideas? I loathe the taste of fondant so will be using buttercream. Not opposed to fondant touches though. The baby is already here - adoption - so it will be a welcoming party.

How about a search on "Baby Shower Cakes" at google.com/images

so so many ideas! Also - have you tried marshmallow fondant? That might work for you:)

Is there a theme? Some folks do a theme with invites/etc.

For example with my nephew they had monkeys with a turquoise blue, so I did a take-off on that.

Very cute duckie cake!!! Could totally do that in pink with pink duckies....

Now if I could just remember where I saw colored ones!

I did and was surprised that almost 100% were fondant! I've tasted the marshmallow fondant

Still prefer buttercream smileys/smile.gif

I should've expected it...they've come up with a theme. This is why I like to take charge of things

The theme is now to be woodland creatures. I think I've got a general idea of the design...two tiers, trees and leaves around the bottom. Some meringue mushrooms. Gotta maybe bake some owl shaped cookies to plunk on the top
