I've been seeing a number of warm radish dishes coming out of my TV set lately. I guess this is the

season to give them a try.

Hi, cheezz--I buy regular round red radishes in bunches and slice them thinly on my (m)

Benriner Japanese Mandolin Slicer after washing and removing green tops & roots.

A couple of weeks ago I had lunch at the Bistro Cordon Bleu here in Ottawa. This is the

school's restaurant open two days a week for lunch. The menu is chosen, executed and served by the students. We've never been disappointed with what has been offered. On this particular occasion the main course was breast of chicken done in a delicate sauce. Along side were steamed radishes and a few other delights. The radishes tasted completely different compared to when they are raw; very pleasant and mildly flavoured.

As a side note, the Bistro offers a 3 course meal...appetizer, main course and a dessert. Tax and tip are included for the amazing price of $24 pp. Add a glass of wine and the bill comes to $32. We are so lucky to have the opportunity eat there.

mmmm... thanks! I've only bought those to make "radish mice" for garnishing smileys/smile.gif

How ADORABLE!!! I've got to try this this Christmas... yes, my guests always end up

taking the mice home in little bags because they want to show so-and-so and think they are too cute to eat. The chocolate ones are perfect for dressing up a dessert table, or tea table! Thanks for posting wigs smileys/smile.gif

and if anyone hasn't made radish mice before, here is a video, although....

these 2 are incredibly clumsy making these things - I was afraid they would cut their fingers off! I could make 6 of them in the time it takes them to make one. I have a curved garnish knife that works perfectly for the ear slots, too. If you make a bunch and put them in a tupperware with a damp paper towel over them, you can do them several days in advance.
