if you don't have or know this cookbook get it if you can- it was published in 1973 and is a big book by Yvonne Young Tarr (she wrote the NY Times cookbook). It is called "The Farm-House Cookbook". It is wonderful. I found it by accident and have loved it ever since.

 
I did own this book at one time and it was part of a purge when I moved. I did get one great tip

from it though. I think it was this book, but it said to scatter bay leaves around your shelves to combat those nasty moths. I have never had moths since I started to do this. I refresh every 6 months or so. As I remember it was a large, paper back. I too saw it on Alibris, a site I love.
