I have spent the last few hours reading over the episode recaps. thanks. thanks a lot. so funny.

Is it just me, or does the Cora character bug the heck out of you? she speaks with such puckered lips---woiuld need only one facial expression for a papaer doll, puckered up sour face. I'm just not liking Elizabeth McGovern in that character. just odd somehow.

 
Actually I'm loving Elizabeth McGovern in that character--I only remember her as an ingenue

The scenes between her and Maggie Smith are the best to me. But there are so many characters to either love or hate I'm sure we'll all form our own opinion

I agree with you - she's very stiff and not believable. Her face is frozen into one expression.

 
and she could use a few pounds. I do love the exchanges with maggie smith--but it's smith that is

the crown jewel of this saga---IMHO. love her.

 
funny how we have our favorites and not so favorites with this series, and passionately.

I think i'm quite in the minority with thinking E McGovern doesn't quite fit in. Also, and don't hate me, but I'm so very tired of the Mary Matthew thing. It just is not magical to me-- at all. as much as I disliked Carlisle, at least there were some sparks and life in him. have you read through the recaps and comments in the link that Joe provided? quite a hoot. And bring on Shirley MacClain in the 3rd season---what a pairing that will be with Maggie Smith. fun.
