Just a thought, in my martini induced spark of intelligence, P.S. hi Nan and Marg!

might we take it on as a project to go through the archives and try to get as many recipes as we can from there. My confidence in it being around for much longer is zero. Maybe we could all adopt an archive number and try to filter out some of the recipes? Or some other bright idea??? Is there a way to copy all of this data? Any techies out there that know of ways to copy all of this? In the little time I was perusing the archives, I was amazed at how many recipes that there are. Any ideas???

Sounds like a good idea to me (with glass of Shiraz in hand)....

If there isn't a techie way to automatically transfer, I'd be willing to take a section or two. I lurk here so much and gather so many recipes that it's the least I could do.

Malbec, was with roast chicken&chimichurri,I too, could take a section, I'm still doing my own search

I think the sections might be easier, since there's no working search function (where's my drink??)

I was slowly going thru it for my own favorites. Will be glad to take on a section too.

Would we just post all the recipes, along with the names of the posters?

Maybe just #,name of recipe and poster and a review if we have made it? hopefully get others reviews

Dawn, I seem to remember that there was some sort of copyright infringement in copying the entire

archives. Not totally sure about that. However, we should be able to take sections and copy recipes that way. I would be glad to take a section or two and bring over the recipes. I too think working in sections would be easier than working in categories. But could we save the recipes into categories as we bring them over?

Great Idea Dawn

I too mostly lurk here (as you will be able to tell by my number of posts!). I would love to participate as a way of showing my appreciation for all the wonderful recipies (not to mention advice, laughs and even some tears) that you all have so graciously shared.
I think Nan's suggestion of #, name and possible review is a good one.
No matter which way we go -- Count me in!

I think you are right Barbara.

But if we only bring over individual recipes perhaps that would circumvent the copyright infringement?

We would be safest in re-posting active members of this site's recipes

Edited to say I would wait for the high sign from Mimi before bringing massive amounts of content over.

Thanks Debbie,

I just pm'd Mimi and will let you know what I hear back. In order to avoid copyright infringement, we may have to reword the instructions a bit, which will be a major pain in the you know where, but some of the recipes are worth it. Thanks!

I forgot to say that I'll help as well. As an aside, I've tried several search "tricks"

that have worked in the past, such as using Google's Advanced Search feature to search a specific domain, etc.

Unfortunately, nothing I've tried so far to search the archives on the web archive site has worked.

There are also more blocks of posts available than are listed here

I can get up to 58000....there are apparently some errors, so it takes a bit more time to load.

Not been able to search though...

I'm getting to July 2004 posts.

Just by changing the number range in the html path

I took the last one available on the website and then change it the 39*** to 49*** in both places.
That brings up a new block of 100.

I can get to 56500 block (last post, June 2004, see link) but it starts getting iffy after that.

Check the bar at the bottom of your page...If it says "Error" then you can't get there. The address below for 59*** produces an error.
