Just drove out to the country road farms. Warm sunny day, gorgeous scenery, seaside lunch.

Wine sampling in one of the spectacular vineyards and truffled (a local endeavour to get truffles flourishing here) pates to accompany.

I feel so humbled when I return to the kitchen to peruse my bounty. We are so fortunate. I feel so grateful for what is available to me. My humble little dinner of:

-Sockeye caught this morning

-tomato with basil both picked this afternoon and drizzled with my favourite olive oil delivered to me all the way from Spain

-corn picked this afternoon

-dill picked 2 days ago

-new sweet dense little potatoes

-sweet and aromatic strawberries, picked today and difficult to resist on the way home.

I don't know if I really deserve all this but, here it is and I do appreciate it all.

So many reasons to love summer.

What a lovely day you describe Marg! I can almost imagine myself in your shoes. Is the truffle...

grower along the coast or into the interior? BC wines have come such a long way over the past several decades. Its been too long since I've visited the vineyards there.

One of the first sold for $2000. Now there are 2 farms on the island and more on mainland. I wish I

could just find one. I recall being in Florence one time, having ordered a truffled pasta. Every slice ( kching kching) was $5 and I had many kchings on my pasta.
