Just got a pound of "dried strawberries." They are far too sweet to eat plain. Any ideas?

I'd like to use them in a flat cake for work...makes it easier to cut/share.

Note: These are not the light, flavor-intense "freeze-dried" strawberries; they are heavy, sugar-ladden strawberries.

I don't know what possessed me.

Dehydrate them and make a strawberry pound cake or coffee cake. Coat them in bittersweet chocolate

with some nuts and make chocolate bark or make chocolate strawberry clusters.
Make strawberry mousse or strawberry fools
Strawberry sauce for ice cream, fresh fruit, yogurt, etc.

I tasted one again last night & it's like that bright red Swedish Fish candy--super sweet & slightly

gummy.

I'm going to have to use it with an option that doesn't make it any sweeter.

how about adding to a simple yellow loaf cake---no icing or anything else. the sugared outsides

should keep them from sinking and it might give a nice pop of flavor to a plain poundcake type cake.
