wrap these around your pans, they keep sides of cake moist and prevent doming and over browning. They will fit a 9" round pan and 8" square pan. I have been using Magic Strips that have to be wet before wrapping around pan. I knew she was coming out with these strips, and was looking forward to getting them. They sell for $9.99 + shipping. Got an e-mail from her today, letting us know that they were available.

No, they are made of silicone and all you have to do is wrap around the pans.

They are dishwasher safe and if necessary can withstand heat in oven to 500º. They are probably more sanitary also.

I've had the fabric ones for a couple of years now, and they need replacing....

The reflective fabric is fraying in the middle - I'm not sure why, maybe it starts to dry out and get brittle.

It also is fastened with a T-pin, so I usually just leave the pin on, since I only use it for one set of pans (9" round), but I would love not having to deal with the pins.

However, $5.95 for shipping is kinda steep, especially since I'll need two. I think I'll wait for a little bit to see if the price comes down, but I really do want them smileys/smile.gif

I don't understand how these work. I have the fabric ones and the wetness keeping the

pan at an even temperature is easy for me to understand.

But I just tend to think of silicon as non-sticking and heat-resistant. Not actually having the properties of drawing heat...

oh, wait, I think I just answered my own question....it doesn't need to draw out the heat because it insulates the pan from ever getting too hot?

Is that how these work?

Sandi, I'm with you. I use the T-pins and that's a pain. Wonder how the silicon ones stay on? Mis, do you know?

I got an e-mail that mine have been shipped. Will let you all know

how they are as soon as I receive them and bake a cake. My fabric one's needed to be replaced. I was at Sur La Table last week and bought a new set. It figures, "a fool and her money shall soon part" LOL I'll give my new set of fabric strips to my daughter. Maybe it will give her incentive to bake a cake!!! Ha
