Cleveland. They've had a mango recall on the ones with PLU #4959 due to salmonella. If you have any, pitch it! Wigs

PS: Oops, spelled the store name incorrectly--it's

Buehler's Grocery in Ohio.

 
That's a national recall on mangos I believe; it was on the news here too. From Mexico.

Lucky for me I'd actually been taking a break (got off track) from my daily green smoothies. I was eating mangos almost daily till recently I'd get at WF. And these were sold at WF too.

 
I just checked on the 6 mangoes I bought Friday, and they're PLU# 4959! But they're not the Daniella

brand - they're the Fresca brand. Apparently, the PLU# just identifies the type of produce, so should I assume the Fresca brand is safe?

 
This recall has been in effect almost a week, so you're probably safe. I called the store where I

bought mine to confirm that, though they had one of the PLU numbers, they weren't part of the recall. That was Wednesday, so the ones you bought would have been removed by Friday.

I figured there was probably something announced via public media, but that I had simply missed

hearing or seeing it. I'm glad to learn from this site that mangoes should now be safe to consume, but think I'll wait another week or two to buy more--just to be doubly sure!
