Accompaniments - my inlaws (great variety of salads - like mezze, and probably stuffed veggies)

Dessert - something from them

Apple cake - me

We always celebrate the holidays together and it is such an interesting combination.(east and west) We are both good cooks so the food is generally wonderful.

Happy New Year! What is Kishka and Kreplach? My good friend just went through her menu for the

weekend. She is making 8 honey cakes, I believe that was the name....

Kreplach is kind of a tortellini,

but has ground up roasted meat and onions, salt and white pepper inside. You boil and then pan fry them in oil. They are served with the chicken soup. It takes my sisters and me all day to make them (but we make 400).
Kishka is made with bread crumbs or flour, spices and fat, all mixed together and put into a casing, and then it is roasted. Sounds healthy, huh.

Ours is so traditional,I would love to branch out and shake it up a little, but I think everyone would be upset if I did. I would love to hear more about the spicy fish!
