We just made hamburgers and made two of the recipes in the sides section. One is the Grilled Onion Steaks with Honey Mustard Sauce and the other was Sweet-Hot BBQ Tater Fries (sweet potatoes)They are both great and the honey mustard for the onion would be great on anything. Chicken, pork chops or shrimp. If anyone wants the recipes I'll post them.

Yes, July....it's the BBQ issue and there are some really great sounding recipes. I look >>>

forward to trying them.

Gourmet has a nift y one for Chipotle Lime Grilled Chicken we tried tonight...awesome!

I soaked the chicken thighs (bone-in) for about 4 or 5 hours rather than 15 minutes in the fridge plus I added 1 clove garlic, crushed, to the marinade...I made my own chipotle Tabasco with regular Tabasco that I'm never without, mixed with pureed chipotle in adobo that I had in the freezer...this is a VERY tasty grilled chicken recipe...the honey added to the marinade for basting is also essential, great flavors!

Sorry that it took me so long for the recipes Stephanie...Rec: Sweet-Hot BBQ Tater Fries>>>

Sweet-Hot BBQ Tater Fries

4 to 6 servings

2 pounds sweet potatoes or yams, peeled, cut lengthwise into ½ inch thick slices, each slice cut lengthwise into ½ inch wide strips.
¼ cup extra-virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon chopped fresh rosemary
1 tablespoon (packed) golden brown sugar
1 teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
Additional olive oil

Prepare barbecue (medium heat). Place potatoes in 13x9x2 inch baking dish. Add ¼ cup oil, chopped fresh rosemary, brown sugar, garlic powder and cayenne pepper to potatoes. Sprinkle potatoes with salt and pepper; toss to coat. Brush grill lightly with oil. Place potatoes on grill spacing about 1 inch apart. Grill until potatoes are tender and slightly charred, turning occasionally, about 10 minutes total. Transfer potatoes to bowl, season to taste with salt and pepper and serve.

My notes:
I par boiled the potato slices for about 2 minutes and dried well just to give them a jump start. I always do this on potatoes when I grill them and they turned out great. This is a really easy and nice side dish.

Rec: BBQ Onion Steaks with Honey-Mustard Sauce. Absolutely Delicious!>>>

BBQ Onion Steaks with Honey-Mustard Sauce

4 to 6 servings

¼ cup olive oil
2 tablespoons butter, melted
¼ cup Dijon mustard
¼ cup honey
1 tablespoon copped fresh summer savory
1 ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

2 large sweet onions (such as Walla Walla, Vidalia, or Maui) peeled, cut horizontally into ½” thick slices.

Prepare barbecue (medium-high heat). Whisk oil and butter in small bowl. Whisk mustard and next 3 ingredients in another small bowl.

Run 2 thin metal skewers or soaked bamboo skewers parallel through each onion slice, placing skewers about 1 ½ inches apart to keep slice intact. Trim ends of bamboo skewers. Brush both sides of onion slices with oil mixture. Place onions on grill and cook until beginning to char, turning and brushing often with oil mixture, about 11 minutes. Brush top side of onions with mustard mixture and cook until mixture begins to bubble, about 2 minutes. Turn onions; brush with mustard mixture and grill until beginning to caramelize, about 1 minute longer. Transfer onions to plate. Brush with mustard mixture.

Thanks for posting the recipes, Orchid. Think I'll make the BBQ onions to go with my chicken breasts

tonight. Yum! Steph

Made this last night. Big raves from husband and daughter...

It made my lazy day B-S-chicken breasts into a fab dinner. I usedthe BBQ sauce on the chicken also. Thanks again...Steph

And we just used the left over sauce on Grilled Bacon Wrapped Shrimp. This is a really great sauce!
