KA Mixer lock knob fell apart...anyone replace this?

So early in my holiday baking I went to lock the tilt up head on my KA and before I could do so, just upon touching the black plastic knob lightly (barely actually), it fell apart/came off.

Anyone have experience/info on replacing this?

Gotta say, while I do like the KA, for the few times I've used it - sure seems not made well. smileys/frown.gif

I've had my KA 45 since '89 with NO problems like that. Wonder if it's just that machine? I'm

a big fan of the Kitchen Aid.

I found a lot of info on Google on how to replace/repair it, but it sounds complicated. I would call

KitchenAid directly, and ask for their help. Do you still have the manual? Their phone number should be listed there.

I think that the new ones aren't made well. Wish I hadn't held out so long to buy one.

Everyone I talk to that's had one for decades seems to not have problems. Mine's had an oil leak, a head problem, a pin problem, and now this*. Broke clean in half. When I did some searches the content didn't match the titles and actually share how to do this. I've thought about crazy glue, but sheesh, for as much as these cost (I have the brushed nickel upcharge model) seems like it should hold up better. Full disclosure, I did buy a refurb but these things would've been out of warranty either way.

*the stiffest thing I've ever used it for is cookie dough. I fear it can't make bread.

What year did you buy it? Between 2006 and 2011 or part of 2012,

the parts were made in China. Now, they're back to being made in the U.S.
