Karen No/CA hope you're OK and didn't have to be evacuated! I think your north of the damn aren't u?

My son is Air National Guard near Sacramento. They've been called in to evacuate Oroville

I came to this site to find out if Karen and others are OK.
Daughter-in-law says that Yuba City and Marysville are also to be evacuated but the timing is not so critical.
Praying you all keep safe. Please let us know if you can.

Maria, where are you, and where is Karen? NoCa is a big area.

My friend's son in Marysville is under mandatory evacuation. I think Karen is above it all

For some reason I think she's near Redding, which is well above the lake/dam and outside the evac area, but I'm not sure. I'm in the bay area so I'm far away, but I'm watching it on the news. And have friends in Sacramento (where my friends son evacuated to), But it's a huge area being a evacuated, mandatory evacuation, but it's mostly a rual area save the cities of Oroville and Yuba City, they're telling people to go to Chico. However, if the actual dam were to break, and right now it's only the emergency spillway that's of concern, but if the actual dam were to break they said that also could include low lying areas of Sacramento That would need to be evacuated as well. Right now they are feeling if they can lower the lake level by a foot they might be out of the woods, but we've more rain coming.

We are north of Oroville Dam In Redding CA. However, Shasta Dam which is North of us

and controls Lake Shasta and all the billions of gallon of moutain runoff and snow melt, is way too full for this time of year and they dumping like crazy which is not going to help the valley further south. Shasta is a concrete dam. 12 years ago, three environmental agencies warned the FERC about Oroville Dam and the dangers if we got a huge amount of rain, and they were dismissed. So sad.

The fact that Sacramento is below sea level and their old levee system is another huge worry, which they were warned about about, as well. So scary. Another big storm coming in later this week.

It is so hard to see 188,000 people evacuating like we saw on TV last night

Where do they all go. I hope the next storm does not bring that much water. There is so much snow in the mountains yet to melt. Plus all the creek and rivers still coming in to the dams.

This whole situation is quite alarming. As a So CA resident, we get about 1/3 of our

drinking water in the summer from Lake Oroville, so this problem will affect many people if it is not resolved. It is a shame our state has not been diligent about maintaining this important infrastructure.

Have the evacuees been allowed back? With the storm coming in this week, I hope all goes well for everyone!
