Kathleen, did you have a fun day on Christmas with your boy's playing

It was perfect!

It turned out to be exactly what we needed. My oldest (age 6) was sick during the week with a cold and fever. I was up with him pretty much every night and was exhausted. Well, on Christmas Eve he was diagnosed with pneumonia! He managed to stay out of the hospital which was our little Christmas Miracle. Somehow, I found the strength to make the big Christmas Eve dinner and breakfast but having pulled ANOTHER all nighter on Christmas Eve (between ministering to him and being Santa, there wasn't a lot of sleep, especially as all the guys woke at 7am!) there was NO WAY I was going to cook. So, it was perfect. My DH put together all the Light Sabers (a HUGE HIT) and my little pneumatic one and I hung on the couch and watched all the Star Wars movies they got as presents and slept and my DH just kept heating up snacks. The Sick One was the one we were most worried about eating the junk as that just isn't his thing. So, as he had no appetite anyway, we were safe there. Just kept making him smoothies. The dim sum from Costco was the biggest hit followed by some puff pastry with cheese and apricots from Target.

I would add that the best part of the whole food thing was being able to say "yes" all day long. It was so freeing. It is just a downer to constantly be the one to say no and to set limits. For one day, there were no limits. "Mommy, can I eat all this candy?" "Yes!" "Mommy, can I have another piece of fudge?" "Yes" My kids were somewhat incredulous and kept asking "Are you sure?" when we would let them do stuff we normally never would but it was fun for us, too. Also, it was so easy. Just say yes and you don't have to deal with any disappointed, sad, mad, frustrated people. Too bad I can't do it the other 364 days of the year.

Thanks for asking. Hope everyone else had a great time!

Merry Christmas!
