Mix of pix, sorry no individual photo descriptions, but it's pretty easy to follow. First pic is from the plane ride out: "High" tea over the Rockies from my day-long catered 15-hours of travel. Assembling Chili Brine for the chicken, flipping the Sauerbraten in the pickling bath, making the filling and wrapping the salmon in puff pastry, assembling and roasting the potatoes, etc. Refer to the menus and you'll be able to sort out what's going on.

Day 3 menu:

Cathy's Salmon in Puff Pastry with Spinach-Dill Stuffing

Mosaic Roasted Potatoes

Green Beans with Onion Butter

Chocolate Cherry Cordial Cake

Day 4 menu:

"Down Home"

Nashville Hot Chicken (Music City Missy's Recipe)

Mashed Potatoes

Chicken Cream Gravy

Tangerine-Honey-Cinnamon Glazed Carrots

Pickled Beets

Lime Curd Tart with Creme Chantilly (picked the limes up in Cathy's yard)

Today we're taking a break and going hiking in Waimea Canyon and will eat bountiful leftovers tonight. Dessert tonight will be the World Peace Cookies made into ice cream sandwiches with Tillamook Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream.

Upcoming Menus:

Wednesday:

Chicken Cordon Bleu (Austrian Style)

Herzoginkartoffeln (Pommes Dauphine)

Brussels Sprouts with Bacon and Onions

Kaiserschmarr'n with Cinnamon Apple Compote

(Austrian caramelized vanilla oven pancake)

Thursday: TBD

Friday:

Ditto from me. Was out and about today reading posts from cell phone

and going "wow" to all of it.

Richard, have a wonderful time with Cathy and your remaining time in paradise.

Hey, this batch of photos opened up for me. What an amazing experience for everyone.

Thank you all for sharing.

Food and Fun coma

Last evening we had leftovers- the refrigerator is stuffed with all manner food and ingredients for the next menus. We needed to take sort of a break and finish off some goodies. I did roast more "mosaic potatoes" to add to the fun though.

It POURED rain all night- flash flood warnings still up this morning. Rained about 2" an hour. I must go to work this morning but might need a boat to get there!

John and I enjoy all this cooking fun with you both. All of it is beautiful

and looks delicious but you're going to need a vacation to rest up! LOL Thanks for sharing it all with us.
P.S. Those potatoes are just beautiful as well as the salmon. Yum!

Orchid, you described it beautifully! George and I have been doing the same... Living our life /

tummies through Cathy / Richard.

How fun that they shared their friendship / cullinary experience / vacation....

Great photos, good times! Enjoy every minute!

I may have to revisit the salmon in puff pastry for a future party--that just looks amazing! Fried chicken looks great too!
Ironic, Richard--your "night before diet" meal is at the top of the threads..what a before and after!

I wish I did have some time after getting home

we got home sunday evening after a mechanical delay forced our plane back to the gate in Denver. 7 hours sitting in the airport waiting was no fun when I would have much rather been at home for those 7 hours snuggling my pups.

Then back to work where they so thoughtfully saved all of the work from my two week absence for me and added it to my regular workload. I've been exhausted all week, dozing off anytime I stop moving.

But what a glorious time. Neither of us I don't believe have cooked a thing since last week! I've been pulling out soups and stews from the freezer to reheat and Cathy has been eating salad. LOL
