Keeping me humble...

...was the effect of pouring a hot, 5 1/2 quart pan of pasta with chicken and olives (a family fav) into an Ikea oven-safe casserole dish (ceramic) that had just been yanked from a hot oven (to preheat), only to watch the casserole *shatter* when the hot pasta hit it!

Dang.

Saved a decent portion of pasta... enough to feed wifey and the boyz.

At least I have my wrists...

Glad you weren't hurt!

It sounds like there was still enough difference in temperature between the 2 to cause the breakage.
I generally don't heat my oven to more than 200 degrees to warm dishes. So far, no breakage.

I'm sure that was the issue. Plus, Ikea isn't top of the line stuff.

The oven was at 300.

I didn't think the difference would be too critical, but I was waaay wrong.
