and already plan to make the green beans, cabbage dish and the hot butter spice added to masoor dal..

Of course, Mom didn't have ANY of the ingredients (even the kosher salt) so I picked up the load while out today.

Made the masoor dal yesterday. Very good. Made the roasted cabbage today.

Couldn't find savory so I used regular. Had to roast an additional 15 minutes to get it tender enough for my tastes..it did turn a beautiful roasted color.

I wasn't crazy about the sauce at the end...a little too vinegary and a little too dilly. But a nice idea.
