Last Friday I had the pleasure of meeting Sandi at the new Penzeys in LA -

lisainla

Well-known member
and she is as delightful in person as she is on the Swap. We had a great time smelling all the spices and stocking up.

I have attached a picture if anyone wants to take a peek.

Sandi also brought me a fabulous cookbook - "Come Eat, My House - Recipes for Casual Dining, Local Style". I will post one of the fabulous recipes I tried from it in the next post.

Thanks again, Sandi!

(BTW, my son made a house for the stuffed turtle you brought for him, and named him "LGT" for - Little Green Turtle!)

What fun, Lisa!

Meeting folks we've met through Epi (and now Mimi's) is such a treat!
I've met countless chatters and swappers, and never fail to enjoy their company. We've also seen some parts of the country that might have taken us years to get to otherwise.

How fun for you!

I've only met in person one other Swapster, which was Heather the Wandering Baker but hope to meet more in the not too distant future. I've met many of my online friends from other sites/chats, though. It's always been a great experience and I have found that people are as NICE in person as they are in the sites. You don't seem to hear all the good stories - so I'm glad you posted this! Thanks!

Lucky you - I'd love to visit a Penzey's, tooooo!!!

Wasn't that fun, Lisa? My hubby was quite apprehensive about meeting online friends,

I had to reassure him that swappie people are a real-life community! We trade recipes and stories, just like we would with our neighbors.

So meeting Lisa was not like meeting a complete stranger, especially since Lisa's the type to make you feel comfortable immediately. She's sooo nice!

And when the Penzeys sales person asked how I knew about the new store, I told him my friend, Lisa, told me about it! Thanks again Lisa!

Not a new one! In 1996...or was it '97...Cathy Z and I...

arranged to meet "over drinks" when we visited Kauai...because we, too, weren't sure about this "cyber friend" thing. We laugh about that meeting now. We all hit it off so well and had so much in common we spent the better part of our visit together...we called our husbands "twin sons of different mothers". This was the first of many happy times together. Our families have been dear friends ever since, sharing holidays and life events. We count Cathy and Kriss amoung our dearest friends. Was that all OK to share, Cathy??

Anytime, Sandi! I used the Penzeys horseradish powder to make a zippy sauce for my corned beef -

and to put on roast beef sandwiches - YUM!
