Last night DH and I were invited to our older neighbors home for dinner.

We had boiled Polish sausage, Kraft mac and cheese and canned beets.

I just kept thinking "It's not about the food, it's about the fellowship!"

I think it is great they invited you. Usually people are too intimidated at the thought of cooking

for someone who loves to cook and is a good cook.

We (DH and me) rarely get invited out for dinner to friend's houses even though we entertain fairly frequently. There is one dear couple who does invite us and sometimes the fare is similar to what you had, Cyn. When that is the case I relish it because they took the time and did what they could in the kitchen and shared their best. It is most definitely about the fellowship, not the food.

Same here--we love to entertain but rarely are invited for a home cooked meal. Chefs have a saying..

"My favorite meal is one that someone cooks for me".

My mother was no chef, but that was her mantra as well. She...

...was an OK cook, and there were a few things she did really well.

Regardless of her proficiency (or lack of), she HATED cooking. She ALWAYS appreciated any meal she didn't have to prepare.

LOL! Kraft Mac n' Cheese! I tell my friends who say they can't compare to my cooking to get

a blue box of mac n' cheese, add a hot dog and I'll be fine.

I would have even eaten the canned beets and, to me, all beets taste like dirt!

We were served Kraft mac/cheese in a restaurant yesterday...

The kids menu said mac/cheese, so got it for the kids and we'd swear it was just the Kraft stuff.

Love it! I have had some tell me that too and it is hurtful! I say the very same thing to them

except I add,"or grill us a burger with some Ore-Ida fries sprinkled with garlic powder! I have even said "we will eat anything that does not eat us first! And we enjoy it!"
