such devastation? I hope this is not all hype to get prices inflated.

Every cocktail I love, other than my revered martini, has fresh lime juice. It could be a dry summer.

Regular limes are $.69 each here. Key limes at the Mexican market are waaay cheaper, and...

...I think they are more acidic (I like) and have more concentrated essential oils. They are more peppery, and contain a surprising amount of juice.

I like Mexican limes.

4/$5.00... I was buying them to make Michaels cuban skirt steak. I opted for the bottle vs. fresh

squeezed. The skirt steak was fabulous! double thumbs up! I saved some marinade before using it on the beef and used it as a base for a salad dressing over romaine / cuc's / cilantro / avocado. Yummy!

Thanks for a great recipe Michael!

I was "flaborgasted" at the price of the limes!!! And this was not an upscale market. It was shoprite. 4-$5.00!!!

Now that is scary. Killing farmers for their land to grow limes. My cocktails are definitely

inconsequential.

I had heard about the disease plaguing them, on the news, but this is very discouraging.

Michael, I think this skirt steak recipe is ready for T&T. I made it and Barb and you and, love

I just bought a big bag at Sam's.

I'm going to juice them all and freeze 2TB cubes. I may try vacuum sealing some zest as well.

I buy 2 bags at a time and squeeze them all into mini-ziplocks which I then

freeze flat and stack. Doing them all at once is very handy. We also used to freeze them in small water bottles

I paid 20 cents each at Costco last time, but really, I may have to stick to nothing but martinis, as every one of my cocktails features fresh lime juice.

I don't suppose this is the proper time to mention I have a terrifyingly prolific Key Lime tree in

our yard? (Sorry, it's not my fault, I was drawn that way.) In season, we harvest literally buckets of fresh limes and despite endless juicing and massive give-aways, end up throwing away at least 1 bucket of the little-juicy suckers every week due to spoilage. There are 6 giant zip-locks filled with "lime-cubes" in the freezer and they DO come in handy. Anyone with an ice-chest is welcome to drop by for margarita makings.

I just went on another lime hunt. So bad now, that the prices are just being crossed off over & over

with the increases, rather than the signs themselves being changed. Now they're $1.19, nope $1.25, nope $1.29, nope $1.35 . Soon they'll just leave out the decimal point.
