Howdy, all. I have finally made my way back to the Swap. I've missed you all! I finally had my last reconstructive surgery three weeks ago and recovery is going well. Am so glad to be on the other side of all this cancer stuff.

I just discovered that I have to provide a dessert for a dinner tomorrow night. Plus, my hostess has a lot of dietary restrictions. In addition, I will have about 1 hour to pull this together tomorrow during my lunch hour. So I scrolled through and, as usual, you all save the day. Meryl had posted a recipe for melon salad with ginger syrup, so that's what I'm going to do. Someone gave me a box of ginger thins and I'll serve those, too.

You all are the best.

Oh so good to hear from you Amanda! I have thought about you

so often and wondered how you were. Sounds like your doing well! Hope you can pop in once in a while.

Hi Amanda! It's great to hear from you!The melon with ginger is great-let me know how it turns out!

I've thought of you so often also. So nice to hear things are going well. I've also wondered how

Liam is doing. Hugs Amanda, I'm glad it's behind you.

I am sure Meryl's rec will be a hit! I am so happy to hear from you!! You've been missed!

Oh, wow! Glad to hear you're doing well! smileys/smile.gif Salad sounds delish. Have a wonderful summer!

Oh, thank you all! Such a nice welcome back.

Yes, "the baby" is finishing up kindergarten and will be starting first grade in the fall. Seems really unbelievable. If I can figure out how to post a picture, I will do so.

I haven't been cooking much, so definitely need to get back to that. When I was recovering from surgery, my husband hired a friend who works as a personal chef to fix two weeks worth of dinners for us. She uses locally-sourced, organic food, and we ate like kings. I love to cook, but it was *so nice* not to have to plan meals or shop or cook. Her food was amazing, and it wasn't all that expensive. The best dish was a roasted pork tenderloin with an apple cider gravy--I could really tell the difference with the organic meat. I wish we could just hire her permanently. I think I'll ask for another two weeks for my birthday gift. smileys/smile.gif

I'm delighted to hear you're doing so well! Yep, that cancer stuff is the pits! Been there, done

that times 2! (I had colon cancer when I was 43 and was diagnosed with thyroid cancer at the age of 53. Last summer at 63 due to a weird symptom, I thought for sure I was headed into breast cancer because from June 28 through August 9, 2013, it took 3 mammograms, 2 ultrasounds, 1 in-office biopsy (which came back negative) BUT which was followed by a complete excisional biopsy (surgery like a lumpectomy) that was also thankfully negative before my gyn & breast surgeon decided I did NOT have cancer for a third time.)

U take good care of yourself and get plenty of rest. It's fantastic to hear that you are back at work, and I hope you are past needing any more reconstructive surgery. My best to you!
