Cuisinart - big fat mess. I'm looking for one with a bean grinder. I know there are some on the market that make one cup at a time. Your favorite? Thank you.

I had heard that the Cuisinart in particular was a mess

to use. I am loving my Krups combo coffee/espresso maker. I don't grind beans but it I did I'd get a burr grinder. The Senseo type seems to me to be a way to sell and expensive coffeemaker and expensive coffee packets. Also may not have the ability to fix a variety of different kinds of coffee.

I can refer you to two fantastic coffee sites:

wholelattelove
and
coffeegeek

they know everything there is to know about coffee makers. try coffeegeek first. good luck.

Don't those one serving coffee makers require one type of coffee in specific packets?

Seem to me it would be very expensive and limiting. Sort of the Gillette theory of marketing--don't sell the razor, sell the blades.

aajay and Durward - after reading through the sites posted below, it seems that there are cons -

locked into a certain product and limited choices (although I've heard they make a great cup of coffee.) Personally, I like a big, hot pot of fresh brewed coffee. So far, research is sending me toward the Krups. Durward - what model do you have?

Senseo and pods

I have a Senseo, and I love it. It can take other brands of pods, but you have to make sure that they are flattened in the holder, or else the water will come out there.

BTW...I have instructions on how to make your OWN coffee pods. Not as hard as you might think.

CYH - consider yourself hugged
