Looking for advice on Sodastream. I'd like to buy one of these as a Christmas gift but there

are so many options I don't know which one to purchase. So I thought I'd ask all of you.

Which one

Extras

Flavors

I received a basic model over three yrs ago and like it a lot. The newer models...

look easier to use---with the lights that tell you the how much carbonation is added.

Depending on how much you drink, extra bottles could be useful.

We usually drink plain seltzer, but I like most all of the flavors.

I adore my Sodastream

and use it all the time. They are expensive enough as is, so get the basic low-end model. They all do the same thing: shoot CO2 into water quite efficiently.

As far as the supplies, I bought a bunch of those and quickly burned out on them, except for the diet pink grapefruit soda flavor which I use to make a grapefruit-basil-elderflower martini. I make my own flavored syrups and we love those so much better than the soda stream syrups. I made a Dr. Pepper knock off that people went nuts over with raspberries, prunes, cherry leaves, spices, etc. You can also better control sugar content in the ones you make yourself.

The other consideration is watch sales, Bed Bath Beyond coupons are great to bring the price down. I bought mine for 50% off at local Meijer store, the box had been damaged, product was fine. They also have sales on the flavorings. I found a buy one get one offer a while back.

Not buying one but thanks, anyway. The recipient read about the treatment of the

workers in the Palestinian Sodastream factory on the West Bank and said he no longer wants one.

I received one for Christmas a couple years ago and it came with a flavor pack starter kit. I'd

go for something like that, then they can see which flavors appeal. I actually prefer unflavored carbonated water and tossed the flavor packs. smileys/smile.gif If you want to guild the lily, I'd prefer the extra bottle pack and/or an extra charger.

As you all know I do not ever get involved in political comments. However I simply have to comment

here.
I myself do not buy products made or vegetables grown in the occupied territories. I do this because I so very want Israel to come to an agreement with the Palestineans which will allow us all to live in
peace and I believe that (aside from our horrible PM) the occupation
of the territories is a leading reason for the troubles.

However, The EU and the BDC have gone way overboard in
banning Israeli products. They have banned things that are not made in the territories, they have banned fruits and vegetable that come from anywhere in Israel and have taken a general anti attitude towards Israel in every walk of life - including reporting that Israelis killed a 13 yr. old boy recently. This 13 yrs. was well and recovering in an Israeli hospital while the 13 yr. he stabbed is still in critical condition.
Also the conditions of Palestinean workers in Israeli places of employ is nowhere near what is described.

Sorry for the rant.........
