Fresh Market had them for $29.99 a pound.

Whole Foods had 3 ounce plastic packages at $18.99 EACH! $101.28 A POUND!!

I get all my nuts at our local Farmer's Market. Have you tried there?

Of course they would have to be locally grown so if you live out of a nut growing area, no luck, I suppose.

I know. I finally have fresh basil from our "salad table" but it's going

into the freezer without the nuts or the cheese until the price comes down. I'm following CathyZ method to puree the leaves with oil and add the nuts and cheese when I use it later...maybe two decades from now when the price of crazy nuts comes down.

I expect this is because of the drought in the south - same as peanuts, right?

I know pecans/peanuts come from the south, not sure about pine nuts. It was all over the news a few months ago to get ready for the big prices on peanut butter because of the drought/searing heat this year. Massive crop failures.
