Lucky me! I had my own PT/MS (that's Personal Tex/Mex Shopper) in PatBastrop!

Surgeon General Warning: PT/MS should not to be confused with PMS. Hopefully, this was a lot more fun.

It started out by sharing the DVD of an African lady detective and ended up with Pat going shopping for me. I provided a flat-rate stamp and some dinero and she mailed me back a whole whoppin' box full of Texas goodies! What fun Lar and I had unwrapping and planning what to make first.

Yee-Ha! Thanks again Pat!!!!!! Let the Tex/Mex'n begin!

Let's see.....red and green Hatch salsas, chorizo, diced chilies

fresh corn tortillas, cans of diced Hatch chilies, a bag of dried red chilies, a cone of mexican sugar (piloncillo), a box of Mexican chocolate, a chocolate beater (large scepter looking object??) dried pinto beans, dried red beans, achiote, pecan candies (cow patties?), several bags of spices...my goodness, you should smell the wonderfulness of this aroma (epazote, Fort Worth chile blend, whole cumin seeds, San Antonio chil powder (Fiesta blend), ground cumin, dried ancho chili powder) and finally, a lovely Texas recipe book with extra printouts from Pat with some of her favorite recipes.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you, my friend! Boy, you really packed that flat-rate box full!!

(Now I have homework to figure out how the heck you use epazote? pilocillo? and a scepter.)

My sis made a vertical toilet paper dispenser out of the chocolate beater.

a small wooden flat shelf with a hole the size of the handle. The handle went through the paper roll and into the hole. Toilet paper roll is in vertical position. Looks hecka cool!

You are really going to have some fun! Love Mexican chocolate.

All the pepper blends get me. Even with the huge ethnic groups we have here, we still have limited dried peppers and pepper blends so that is what I look for when I travel. I love playing with different peppers..

BTW - for something fun, you can put some of the canned Hatch peppers in your favorite brownie recipe - chocolate, peppers and spice = GOOD!
