dish can be made ahead and not heat up the kitchen... I did not have any tweaks, just enjoyed! Tx again Cathy for a great rec... Does anyone have or know anyone who has one of those multi-purpose slow cookers
that also brown? Seems to me it would be perfect for a recipe like this. You only have one pot to clean....isn't that the purpose of the slow cooker, convenience and no heat to speak of in the kitchen.

I have one---it has a metal "pot, not a crock, and sits on top of a heating base. I can brown
things on the stovetop, then add all the other ingredients and place on the cooker to slow cook. It cooks a bit hotter than a true crock, crockpot. but I have learned to adjust times. mine is about worn out.
