Made the toffee coffee that was being raved about after Cactus Sue posted it.

Thanks Cyn, I haven't made candy in years. That is going to be my first and then????

Glad you liked it Cyn. I actually found the recipe in an old Bon Appetit Christmas Cookbook the

other day! Funny how some of these blogs forget to mention where the recipes originated, but it was word for word the same recipe!
I really liked it too!
Mine kept weeks in the fridge.
So glad you tried it.

I'm not sure - maybe the chocolate melts at room temp? It's still really warm where I live, so the

fridge keeps it "set-up". I eat it right out of the fridge! I take it out and let it come to room temp when I serve it.

The fridge is fine if you are in a warm area. It will last much longer and stay

in better quality. Here in MO it's cold when I normally make candy and I keep it in tubs in the garage to keep it cold and fresh.

Yes, isn't that a great recipe?! YUM!

I've been making candy for my daughter's work Christmas Extravaganza next weekend. (Fri and Sat) Guys...I'm CRAZY! NO comments!!! Why did I start this project?! I am supposed to be getting new windows installed in my house and here I go, making messes, spending money - playing Betty Crocker! (sweating my buns off over a hot stove but I could use smaller buns!)

Well..if you know me. (do you? maybe a few of you do) You will know that I don't do things 1/2 way. My kitchen looks like a grocery store! One that sells only candy ingredients....

Yesterday, I made 25 lbs of hard cinnamon candy. Today, it's brittle. I'm at 21 lbs of peanut and getting ready to start on cashew. *sigh

Monday will be fudges (cho buttercream w/various nuts and peanut butter) and caramel. Then Tuesday will be TOFFEE DAY! lol I'm making regular and the coffee one. Lbs and lbs of all of it!

Wednesday will be packaging day. Thurs I will drive there and set up that evening.

Oh, my gosh. I forgot to say...I got carried away and had business cards made to pass out and I already have 3 orders and the coffee roastery here wants to carry my stuff. (they know my goodies, I give them a box every year @ Christmas)

So, yes...MAKE THE COFFEE TOFFEE!!!! It's incredibly WONDERFUL! Someone might even want to purchase some! But how much do determine how much to charge for it? I have a problem pricing it. I'm used to giving all my candy away!!! smileys/smile.gif

If you don't see me for awhile...send good thoughts and prayers because I'm swimming in goo!

Gotta run - the candy thermometer is calling my name!!

I've never made those, but I make a knock-off of See's Scotch Kisses....

They're very good and are nearly identical. I make my caramel (recipe in Favorites) and cook it softer than it says - I'm going to have to look for my notes and experiment again - it's been a few years since I played with the recipe and made them. I puddled the hot caramel, then put 1/2 a large marshmallow (cut side down) then ladled caramel that was thickening (cooling) on top to cover. They looked messy, but after set, I pulled it up with a knife or fork popped it into a waxed paper wrapper, rolled it alittle to shape, then twisted the ends. Let cool. They were TDF!

I'd say you could use a similar technique to make the one in question, only adding the chocolate and nuts. Would be shaped differently, of course, but I bet they have a cutter or mold that makes theirs MM in the shape in question. You might be able to microwave the MM a little to soften then pop into a greased ramekin or something to shape it. ?

Would be fun playing with this and will, when I get done with my candy making this week, IF I ever want to look at another pan of candy! ha

I think her Mom lives in Oklahoma, and having lived there for a few years, it gets pretty durn hot.

but not at holiday time.
