I confess, I saw it from the Epicurious recipe flash, but added a little touch of my own (pistachios!!). Will be bringing it to the 'Day of Wine and Rose' party this weekend, think it will pair very well with rose!
FRESH FIGS WITH GOAT CHEESE AND PEPPERED HONEY
1/4 cup honey
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
12 fresh figs
1/4 cup soft fresh goat cheese (I used Cypress Grove's Purple Haze, which has fennel pollen and lavender mixed in)
(12 shelled pistachio's for garnish)
Combine honey and pepper in small bowl; stir to blend. Starting at stem end, cut each fig into quarters, stopping 1/2 inch from bottom to leave base intact. Gently press figs open. Spoon 1 teaspoon cheese into center of each. gently press fig "petals" back together enclosing the cheese. Top with a pistachio. Arrange figs on platter; drizzle with peppered honey.
Garnish platter with fresh basil sprigs.
Makes 4 servings(or 3!)
