DH wants to send his bro some toffee as a birthday gift.

It will be traveling from CA to FL. I am thinking I should food saver it to keep the humidity away.

Any other tips?

I would not mail toffee to FL this time of year, unless you send it overnight

I get stuff mailed this time of year and have learned my lesson. Anything with oil in it....has arrived with at least one or two containers popped open from pressure and made a real mess for me to clean up. Just recently, I received a load of Kitchen Basics chicken stock, with one package popped open, and boy were they hot. I am not a packing expert, but will take a chance on a suggestion: can you put ice packs into zip lock bags to protect the toffee, and put the toffee into a canister of some sort?
I know that this time of year if you order anything that melts, the shipping costs are outrageous. I always need to remember to order some items I get, in the winter or fall.

That's when I make it, at Christmas. See's Candy is one of my favorite candy companies. They don't

ship during the summer months, because a lot of stuff shows up at the customer's door completely melted.

I send my customers boxes of Nuts and Chews from See's as a "thank you" during the cooler months. It is always well-received!

Definitely not if chocolate coated, unless you pay for Express Mail. What about

...peanut brittle? That would travel much better in this heat.

Do it now! It's your Dh's brother!

I would and have packaged with frozen Capri Sun's wrapped in lots of paper bags and bubble wrap. Sent regular mail at end of day Monday. So, what's the worst that can happen to toffee? Melted? Likely not a bad outcome that says, "I love you!" Colleen

Thanks all! I opted to wait til cooler, as it was, mailing a small box with 2 shirts

And a batch of cookies set me back $17 in postage. 😑
