Making the Tried and True Italian Cream Cake, and

It calls for only 1 teaspoon of soda. I took that to mean baking soda. BUT...I'm going against my nature in not adding 1 teaspoon baking powder.

I've never made a cake without baking powder.

What do y'all think?

No problem -I make a few cakes with just baking soda -The Chocolate Sour Cream Bundt Cake from

Cook's Illustrated is one of them.

The acid in the buttermilk reacts with baking soda to rise the cake. Hope it turns out well.
