It calls for only 1 teaspoon of soda. I took that to mean baking soda. BUT...I'm going against my nature in not adding 1 teaspoon baking powder.

I've never made a cake without baking powder.

What do y'all think?

 
No problem -I make a few cakes with just baking soda -The Chocolate Sour Cream Bundt Cake from

Cook's Illustrated is one of them.
