Man! It's 24 degrees here! Earl moved the potted kaffir Lime inside but I fear for my orange tree.

would it help to throw a tarp over it? Yikes... I'll be up there this afternoon...

packing my long underwear! heehee

Thinking to wrap it in a sheet tonight. I find it more effective to close the barn door After the >>

the horse gets out, LOL! The hummingbird feeder juice didn't freeze, so maybe there's still hope...

Wear LOTS of warm clothes and bring your mittens!

BTW, my jury duty got postponed until tomorrow so I can't go by Vallejo today.

The other thing we used to do is run the sprinklers and coat the tree in a layer of ice.

It'll keep the tree at 32 degrees.

What about a vinyl tablecloth cover, the type for a picnic table.

They usually have some sort of fiber lining that might help to insulate the tree.

We get Frost Cloth at Lowe's, it is a white and very light cloth. We put it over our lemon tree.

Brussels sprouts, and broccoli. We are going to go buy more today for some ferns that have been naturalizing by our pool. They are beautiful and I don't want to loose them. One night of this cold really won't hurt too much, but several nights can be deadly to plants.

You are right on Michael. In Florida, many orchards spray their trees

with water which keeps them from freezing and ruining the crops. Good luck with your tree Luisa!

I use a sheet. Not quite that cold here tho

Not sure it's enough for your area but always works for me, but that's our low. I must say tho, driving home at 9pm it was already 34, at sea level, maybe a qtr mile from the bay. That thar be cold in these parts.
