Thank you Maria for the heads up a few weeks ago. Penzeys was sold out but gave us a rain check. I'm really fond of the Ozark seasoning and probably would have never tried it otherwise. I had four pork roasts from Costco and put them all in the oven using this seasoning liberally. The house and the neighborhood smelled amazing!

Thank-you for the recipe advice, Paul

I haven't tried the Ozark but will sprinkle liberally on the pork chops I have defrosting for dinner tonight! Colleen

You’re welcome – my box is still on back order! I can’t wait for it to come.

Now I’ve got to try that Ozark seasoning!

Speaking of Penzey's seasoning blends, have you tried Sunny Paris?

I ordered a sample bottle for $1 couple months back, it was so amazing, we emptied it in a week and I ordered a half-dozen more while they were still on sale. Green peppercorns, chives, shallots, and herbs. It is delicious. I sprinkle it on scrambled eggs, on sandwiches, dressed eggs, pastas, sautes, baked potatoes, salads, literally just about anywhere you would add some herbal flavor.

Yes, yes, yes, it is amazing! I ordered a large jar, and got through it already. have another jar!

I use it everyday for my lunch salad. Great for omelettes, delicate seafoods and on baked potatoes instead of butter. I have used it on roasted cauliflower, snow peas, and in a tomato, rice and red bell pepper soup...all delish!

$35 dollars!!!

I looked and yes, there it is, the 2 cup jar is $35 dollars. I lucked out on the 1 cup $1/jar sale!!!

But really, why aren't they offering this in the bags like they do other popular blends. It should not take $35 dollars to replace a 2 cup jar.

Of course Penzey's prices have been rising like a flood in central Europe. When I first started shopping them 20 years ago they were a bargain for good spices and herbs. Since then, they are astronomical.

I started buying most of my herbs and spices from San Francisco Herb and it is a lot cheaper. As far as Sunny Paris, before I pay $35 for the largest container, I will shop SF herb to buy the constituents and make it myself.

And PS, as the graffiti went at the Cincinnati Conservatory in response to Jesus Saves: "Moses Invests."

Still waiting for mine, too. Was going to contact them until I saw this.

I was also going to save it for a host gift but now I'll attack it for the Ozark seasoning, which was never on my radar...thanks, Paul!

I received mine this week, it was mentioned in a newsletter they had a problem receiving

the small jars. The curry powder came with a silver colored metal lid instead of the usual black plastic. Wonder if they are changing lids. I've always liked the beige and black color scheme of their lids and labels.

Did you ever get it perfected?

I have all of those ingredients in my spice horde, and so I think I can do this. This is one of the reasons I don't buy their "named" blends. I have all of it in my pantry. But then you have tried and it wasn't right...Update?

I haven't tried Ozarks. It's that good?

Oh how clever. Penzey's used to name all of the herbs and spices in the contents. I just looked at this one to see the dreaded "spice" listed as an ingredient. Did anyone capture the ingredient list before they changed? I posted somewhere in a long ago time the list of ingredients in Penzey's blends. I have no idea where that it is or how to find it, but it might contain the Ozark formula.

That faux recipe is missing two key ingredients: purple shallots and chervil. So it never tasted

the same to me.

on my jar it lists:

Salt, black pepper, garlic, thyme, sage, paprika, mustard, ancho, celery, cayenne, dill weed, dill seed, caraway, allspice, ginger, cardamom, bay leaf, mace, cassia, savory, cloves

same here on the curry lid and btw

I added this curry seasoning in the szechuan carrot soup recipe and it came out fantastic.
