MariaDNoCA, here is the "purse cake" bakery info

The "Purse" Cake I made was 100 percent edible! All the decorations were pieces of candy + the

homemade cake and homemade frosting. I linked my original post to a picture of it displayed at the Better Homes & Gardens Webs site from whence came the recipe. I merely skipped using the store-bought cake & frosting called for and whipped up my own.

PS: I got a nice 'thank you' note from the catering client I made that cake for, and Anne wrote that the cake stayed on its edge standing up just perfectly. (I was concerned it would topple over before her guests arrived the day after I delivered it. One Reviewer at BH&G had commented he/she had trouble getting the purse to remain upright, but I think that my homemade cake layers were thicker than what you'd end up with if you made the two 9-inch layers of cake from a box mix.)

Wow, I just viewed the Purse Cake at MarilynFL's link. Those decorators go the extra mile if their

purse straps and buckles were all frosting. Gorgeous! No wonder Glennis_NoCA wondered if the entire cake were edible. You'd have to ask the Elegant Cheesecake bakers about theirs.

PS: Did you watch the slideshow and see the one that looks like a real suitcase?? What detail!

Thanks a million, MarilynFL! I totally forgot that some of those odd characters wouldn't fly here.

cheez, when I clicked on MarilynFL's original link above (17039) & waited a bit,, the pic of the

cake on the left began changing so I sat and watched it go through its cycle of different photos.

Have noticed that when I clink on the link you just posted, I saw several smaller pics all lined up and 2 of those were the ones I was referring to--with the multi-colored purse and the suitcase/valise. So you are seeing the same things I saw, but you actually found MORE shots.

Now Marilyn's most recent link is of their Wedding Gallery photos. What gorgeous cakes and so many of them on display--a full 8 pages with a dozen pictures on each page.

Yes, the bulk of all those cakes look like they have fondant covering to me. I saw one pic of a cupcake that looked like it had a buttercream icing, but the rest (or vast majority) are fondant.

Thanks a ton to you both for searching still further as you found a ton more photos than I originally saw, and I really enjoyed viewing them all. Wigs
